Although we’ve had a few opportunities to visit the UK recently, living here is quite a different story. It has been nearly a decade since we moved back to Texas and so it is exciting to see all of our favorite sites again. London has always been an awesome mission field to us because its population is made up of so many different nationalities.
One thing that’s taken some getting used to is the early sunset — about 3:30 or 4pm each day!
The British pound is worth over double the value of the US dollar, so that has proven to be a challenge. The church here is not paying us a salary, but they have provided us with a lovely little apartment and the Hornbacks have loaned us their vehicle while they’re in the US, so that’s a blessing! We use public trans-portation going to and from the church each day, however, as gas is $7 per gallon here and parking in downtown London takes an inordinate amount of patience, a bag full of money, and miraculous intervention from God.
The people at Commonwealth Church are wonderful and I know we’re really going to enjoy this coming year of pastoring. For those of you who don’t know, we are here for the next year as pastors until our dear friend Ed Hornback can return to the UK. He is going to seek medical attention in America so please keep him in your prayers. We are believing Ed and Lori will be able to come back and resume pastoring by the end of 2007.
